Ever looked at a perfectly coordinated room with custom upholstered furniture and wished you could afford the same look? Well Swedish company Bemz provides an ingenious solution that transforms IKEA furniture into custom made designs.
The idea for Bemz was formed when founder Lesley Pennington bought a Summer house just outside Stockholm, and of course went to IKEA for the basics to furnish the house. She realised her sofa needed washable slip covers, yet the colour options and availability at her local IKEA store were limited. And so the concept evolved.
The Bemz website allows you to choose from over 180 fabrics to transform IKEA sofas, armchairs, footstools, chairs and beds into an item bespoke for your room. They cater for old models as well as the current Ikea designs, so you can give that well worn sofa a new lease of life.
There is a huge range of fabrics available, including ones from Designers Guild and Marimekko. All are 100% natural fibres, machine washable, and durable. You can order up to 5 fabric samples free of charge if you are unsure of your choice.
Oh how have I not discovered these guys before? Am I the only one?
